Columbus volleyball made history on May 16 by defeating the No.3 Horizon Hawks in straight sets to win the program's first-ever championship title. After an amazing run, the team finished #1 and brought home a championship that the team will never forget.

Path to the Finals

The path to the finals began in the state semifinals on May 14th against the No. 4 Seminole Ridge Hawks. Columbus came out hot, winning the first set 25-13 with dominant energy on both offense and defense.

The second set was more of a battle, but at the end the team locked in and secured a 25-23 victory before sweeping the Hawks with a win in the third set, sending Columbus to the finals. Although this was a great win, Columbus was not set on being second place. They wanted that gold more than anyone.

"As soon as the game ended I was focused on finals and winning that championship" said Junior Daniel Jimenez

The Finals

Two days after the semis, Columbus faced another tough challenge against the Horizon Hawks in the championship game. However, Columbus showed grit and control, winning the opening set 25-17.

The momentum was on Columbus' side as they won the second set with a commanding 25-16 victory. Horizon, in a final-ditch effort, pushed back in the third set but was no match for our explorers, who won 25-23 to claim the state title.

The victory crowned an unforgettable season and secured this year's team a place in school history

"This team is something special and its been such a fun and legendary season" said junior Caden Artola
"I cant wait for next year when I am a senior and get to do this all again" said Artola
