On April 16, 2026, at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, The Walt Disney Company and Marvel Studios announced Infinity Vision, a new certification system designed to improve the moviegoing experience in premium large format (PLF) theaters.

Infinity Vision is not a new format like IMAX, but instead a strict quality standard. To qualify, theaters must have massive screens for maximum scale, laser projection for brighter and sharper visuals, and advanced audio systems that create a fully immersive sound experience. Disney says about 75 theaters across the United States and around 300 globally will meet these standards, helping create a more consistent, high-quality viewing experience for audiences everywhere. This also allows Disney to better ensure that films are shown the way directors intend.

The announcement also comes during increased competition over premium screens. Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday are scheduled to release on the same day, and IMAX is reportedly favoring Dune. Since theaters usually show only one movie at a time on their largest screens, this could limit Marvel’s access to those formats and impact overall box office performance.

Infinity Vision gives Disney more control over how its films are presented. Beginning with the re-release of Avengers: Endgame and continuing with Avengers: Doomsday, audiences will be able to seek out certified theaters to watch these films on the biggest screens with the best possible picture and sound quality available.
