As a new year begins at Christopher Columbus High School, new faces appear throughout the campus. Among them is Coach Jube Joseph, the newest addition to the school’s football coaching staff.
As a former coach at powerhouse Miami Central, he led the Rockets to four state championships, including two back-to-back, and a national title. The addition to the Columbus coaching staff hopes to help bring another trophy to campus, and another state ring for Jube.
Why He Coaches
Jube believes coaching is more than teaching athletes to play the sport to the best of their ability; it is a tool to prepare them for future success.
Jube said, “What drew me to coaching was knowing I could make an impact on kids’ lives. Football is just the vessel. It helps develop them holistically, not just as athletes, but as people, and prepares them to be functional adults in society.”
Why Columbus
Before joining Columbus, Jube’s previous school faced an issue that led the Florida High School Athletic Association to upend the season.
Jube said, “At my previous school, there was an administrative paperwork issue that led to the FHSAA taking away our season. It had nothing to do with anything intentional on my behalf. The school decided to go its separate ways, and I’m still seeking a resolution to clear my name.”
Now Jube joins Columbus, which many say is a paradise and any coach’s dream. With professional-grade facilities, top-tier education and, most importantly, a brotherhood, Columbus has the foundation for success.
“I’ve always heard about Columbus from a distance — the tradition, the brotherhood and the discipline of the students. The support for academics and athletics, the rich history and the values made this a blessing and a great opportunity,” he said.
Welcome to the Brotherhood
People’s first impressions of Columbus are always the strong bonds felt in the hallways. Even on his first step on campus, Coach Jube felt the presence of the brotherhood.
“The brotherhood. You feel it in the hallways. It’s an all-boys school rooted in faith, and everything here is about developing students athletically, academically and spiritually.”

The brotherhood at Columbus extends beyond words and tradition. It is visible in the school’s blue and red, colors that represent the foundation and spirit of the football program. It is also reflected in the coaches tasked with upholding that standard, including offensive line coach Coach Jason
Hill, who has worked closely with Jube since his arrival.
“He brings great energy and a real love for the game. Excited to have him here,” said Coach Hill.
And senior offensive lineman Adriano Boutros, who will graduate before being coached by Jube, knows what he brings to the team.
“He brings a winning mentality and a sense of discipline that all of his other teams have had under him,” Boutros said. “His resume speaks for itself.”
More to Life Than Football
Coach Jube is not your run-of-the-mill coach. He’s a champion. He’s hard on his players to ensure they work hard, and he works even harder himself. Although he might be tough, he is a coach who loves and cares for his players.
“If I were to describe my coaching style in three words, it would be tough, hardworking and loving,” Jube said.
Even though he is a tough coach, he believes that if you do not love the student, you cannot demand hard work
.
“You can’t demand toughness or hard work if kids don’t know you love them. Everything we do is rooted in love and brotherhood,” he said. “Who they are as a person. Football is not who you are, it’s what you do. I value building relationships and understanding who players are off the field.”
While he builds relationships with players off the field, he forges them to become champions. He teaches players how to handle pressure and adversity and to push forward.
“It’s how you handle the peaks and valleys. Championship teams know how to respond to adversity and don’t limit themselves,” he said. “Accountability, owning mistakes, thinking objectively and being intentional about improvement.”

Being a coach is not the most straightforward task, and like everyone, people have worse days than others. Coach Jube leads by example and preaches what he teaches.
“If I expect them to fight through adversity, I have to do the same.”
Fit Within the Program
Learning the Columbus way is crucial for any coach, teacher or student to succeed at the school, and Coach Jube is planning to do just that.
“My role is to learn the Columbus way and be a servant to the program,” he said.
Despite a disappointing football season for Columbus, Coach Jube aims to elevate the program to represent the brotherhood nationwide.
“Taking it back to what it’s always been and elevating it to the national level, increasing visibility and collaborating with programs like CCNN,” he said.
Now, taking the program to the national level is not an easy task for him. To help him, Columbus has elite coaches who will help him secure another state championship for the school.
The Future
Coach Jube has a job to do and goals to achieve. While some think the goal is a state championship, there is more to life than football.
“My goal is for kids to be the best versions of themselves in every area of life. Everything else will be a byproduct,” he said.
With Coach Jube at Columbus, the future of the C looks bright, but what looks more colorful is the future of South Florida football on the national stage.
“Competing on the national level consistently and representing South Florida the right way,” Jube said.
A Columbus Football Coach
Being a Columbus football coach is not a job for just anyone. Given the school’s rich sports history and tradition, the pressure is on, but Coach Jube is the right fit for the job.
“They’re getting one of the hardest-working men in the country. I’m here to serve in any way needed.”
